With the recent achievements of the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding in Presentation of Orisa Dances and Journal of CBCIU, which have encouraged us to organise these Launchings as well as an Art Exhibition in Commemoration of the Golden Jubillee of Osogbo Art.

On June 2nd 2016,CBCIU presented Orisa Dances of the Sixteen Principal Dieties of Yoruba land. The production was excellent and well attended. The purpose of the production is to preserve the dancing and drumming skills of each of the principal deities and their chanting repertoires which are almost at extinction stage. Secondly, to popularise the mandates of the Centre and to encourage the public.

The purpose of the production is to preserve the dancing and drumming skills of each of the Principal deities and their chanting repertoires which are almost at extinction stage.Secondly, to popularise the mandates of the Centre and to encourage the public especially children and youth to emrace our traditional dances and drummimg and to actively participate at traditional festivals

In our efforts to achievebthese, the Centre has produced the production of the Orisa Dances in the DVD for public consumption globally and has also placed it on mass media for better appreciation of our rich cultural heritage by the peoples of other cultures from all over the world.

Furthermore, the Centre is planning to impart the drumming , dancing and chanting skills into the children and youth by organising regular workshops for them in formal and informal settings where the practitioners/professionals will serve as instructors up to tertiary institutions for students of African Studies and Theatre Arts

Another outstanding record of achievement is the publication of the Centre's Journals. The two journals (volumes 1 and 2) contain scholarly papers on various domains of Black Culture and other spheres of human endeavours such as politics, economy and so on.

Finally, the Centre is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Osogbo School of Art founded by late Ulli Bieir whose srt works formed the nucleus of the Centre. You may wish to note that the Centre is proud to have two prominent students of this school in persons of Chief Jimoh Buraimoh and Chief Muraina Oyelami.
